Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of epilating with an in-water epilator?
Warm water relaxes and soothes your skin. The warmth improves your microcirculation, stimulates the production of pain-reducing substances, and makes your skin less sensitive. This is why the tugging sensation is considerably reduced in water.

Is it safe to use the Braun Silk-épil 7 Wet & Dry in the shower and bath?
The Braun Silk-épil 7 Wet & Dry is 100% waterproof and is safe for use in or out of the shower and bath. The product features an automatic shutoff mechanism that ensures the appliance operates only once the cord is removed from the main power and recharger dock. This safety mechanism guarantees that the corded appliance cannot be taken into the water and operated.

This is my first time epilating. How should I go about it?
Braun Silk-épil epilators are perfect for first-time users. The active massage rollers softly stimulate your skin with micropulsations before and after removing the hair, leaving your skin more relaxed. Still, if you are inexperienced, you might feel some discomfort during your first epilating sessions. This will decrease with each session as the skin adjusts to the process. Also, the individual hairs grow back at different speeds depending on their particular growth cycle, so there will be less hair to remove after the first epilation.

Does more hair grow back if I epilate?
No. In fact, dermatological tests have shown that ongoing epilation reduces the amount of hair regrowth.

How do I prepare my skin for epilating?
The best preparation for epilating is a nice, warm shower. It will leave your skin clean and relaxed. Be sure to use gentle, pH-neutral shower gel and keep the water warm, not hot, to avoid drying out your skin.

Is epilation painful?
Silk-épil epilators have been specifically developed to minimize any discomfort and irritation.

How do I charge my epilator?
To charge, push the charging cord into the epilator’s charging socket until it clicks. The first time you connect your charging cord, it might require firm pressure. After a few connections, it will be easier to click it in.

Holy He** Balls of Fire! Ok… so those were not the exact expletives that were used at that very first moment. I have never used an epilator. This is my personal experience as an Epilating Virgin. I suffer from ingrown hairs on the outer part of my lower legs (below knee). I carefully unpacked the package, Braun epilation wipes, read the instructions/care manual and charged my new device for a bit. I couldn’t wait for too long so I cleaned my legs with the wipe. The wipe does nothing but clean your legs and make…

Different results in different areas I had not used an epilator before trying this product. However, I have done plenty of waxing, and also have had laser hair removal, so believe me, I am no stranger to pain when it comes to body hair. I suppose I thought, having gone through those other experiences, that the epilator would be no different.I was wrong. The difference between the epilator and waxing:Waxing removes the hair in entire sections, in one fell swoop, so you can brace yourself with each…

It’s nice that it’s wet & dry but… This is not my first Epilator. My first one was one of the Epilady “coil” ones when it was first introduced. That one was touted as painless and yowsers, it made me switch right back to razors. A little over 6 months ago, I got my hands on an Emjoi Optima (the yellow one) and while it hurt, it didn’t hurt as much as the original Epilady and well, it did an ok job. Since trying the Silk Epil 5, I have retired my yellow Optima and I’m considering disposing off it completely. Now I am trying…
